The company took its name from a 70's champion racehorse, Forego. Hobbled by various injuries throughout his incredible career, Forego was often saddled with 10-20 pounds of extra weight to try and make the races more competitive. Despite this disadvantage, Forego placed in the money in 50 of his 57 career starts, was voted 8 Eclipse Awards (more than any other horse in history), Horse of the Year 3 years in a row, Champion Old Horse 4 years in a row, and was inducted into Racing's Hall of Fame in 1979.
